Carol's
Speech Outside Anna Eshoo's Office
When the Santa Clara County Green Party Presented Their
Impeachment Resolution
March 28, 2006
I believe the best hope
for the future is that“we the people of the U.S.”
take personal responsibility for the behavior of our
government and hold “elected officials”
accountable for their actions, particularly when they
have behaved in a flagrantly criminal manner that threatens
the lives and well being of all of us, and people throughout
the world.
I say “elected
officials” with a cautioning note, because there
is ample evidence that the Bush Regime stole the last
two presidential elections, and I don’t believe
Bush and Cheney were legally elected or are legitimate
officials. When we discussed the Impeachment Resolution
at the meeting, most of us agreed that the elections were
stolen, but there was some debate over whether “stealing
elections” was an impeachable offense that could
be directly attributed to Bush and Cheney. Since we all
agreed on the desirability of an impeachment resolution,
we avoided a long discussion of crimes that were more
controversial, and limited ourselves to addressing the
most obvious ones, but I think if we had had more time,
we could have come up with a longer laundry list of crimes.
We first demanded
“Pre-Emptive Impeachment of Bush” in January
2003, in an effort to halt the war against Iraq. I’m
sure most of the country would prefer to impeach Bush
than to launch another needless war against Iran or Syria
or North Korea. The doctrine of pre-emptive war is unjustifiable,
especially when history shows us that the U.S government
will launch false flag operations, support outrageous
lies, to con Americans into supporting wars under false
pretenses.
The Republicans
feel that impeachment is a distraction from the “War
on Terrorism,” but what they don’t want to
admit is that the “War on Terrorism” is a
bogus war, truly a “War of Terrorism” against
the American people and the world. The official 9-11 story
is a lie, a scam used to trick Americans into supporting
wars against Afghanistan, Iraq, as well as other countries.
Eighty-five percent of the soldiers in Iraq were fooled
into believing that Saddam Hussein had something to do
with 9-11 when there is no evidence to support that claim.
Eshoo and the 9-11 Commission failed to address the financing
of the 9-11 attacks. The press has failed to question
why top U.S. Government officials were meeting from September
3rd to September 14th, 2001 with the head of Pakistani
Intelligence, Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmad, who had $100,000
wired to Mohammed Atta, whom the FBI say was the lead
hijacker in the attacks on the World Trade Center. The
men having breakfast with Ahmad on the morning of the
attacks, Porter Goss and Bob Graham, were the ones chosen
to oversee the first official inquiry into 9-11. The basic
facts about 9-11 have never been revealed to the public
by the mainstream press, only an endless parade of lies,
selling the official narrative, punctuated by “terror
alerts” meant to frighten everyone into giving up
their rights, and to silence those of us raising the taboo
questions.
Congress and the
press have failed to ask the hard questions and pursue
the truth. It is up to us, citizens, to see through the
lies, point out that our government has tried to pull
off the most audacious hoax, in an effort to terrorize
the world into silence and submission. We cannot allow
them to get away with it. It is time to “Impeach
the Terrorists.” Then, we can repeal the Patriot
Act, dismantle Homeland Security, redirect resources from
terrorizing, killing and controlling people to helping,
healing, nurturing relationships between people, and between
people and planet. We need a government that is genuinely
of, by and for people, not corporations. We must do all
we can to change a system which allows rich, transnational
interests to dominate our government, and the world, at
the expense of humanity and the biosphere. As Utah Phillips
said, “The Earth is not dying, it is being killed,
and the people responsible have names and addresses.”
There has
never been such a great disparity between the rich and
the poor. The Global Security State being constructed
seems designed to protect the wealthy few from the vast
majority. True security, however, has nothing to do with
amassing the most weapons; true security simply means
healthy balanced relationships, inner peace, healthy family
relationships, a supportive community, peaceful relations
between countries, healthy oceans, forests, air, water…
I hope that
Congresswoman Eshoo and all of Congress begin to listen
seriously to the voices of concerned citizens who are
outraged by our government. I hope that Bush is impeached
as soon as possible. I hope that everyone will shoulder
some responsibility and do all they can to make sure that
there are honest elections in November with as much participation
as possible, to make it harder for the elections to be
stolen. If there are any members of Congress opposed to
Impeachment or Repeal of the Patriot Act or an end to
wars of aggression, may they be ousted in November.
Bush and
Cheney have shown us the sort of leadership that mobsters
use when they break a few windows and shakedown the storekeeper
to hire them to protect themselves against vandals. We
need leadership that exposes the “fake protection
racket” and frees all of us from “extortion,
fear and the threat of more violence.” We aren’t
getting that sort of leadership in Congress or in the
mainstream media, but we need to strengthen our own voices
and support the growing grassroots movements demanding
truth, impeachment, peace, accountability, justice. Together
we can do, what none of us could do alone. I am reminded
of what Mahatma Gandhi said-
“When
I despair, I remember that all through history the ways
of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants,
and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible,
but in the end they always fall. Think of it – always.”
